The Academic Achievement Hub in the Teaching + Learning Commons hires Learning Strategists to provide support to undergraduate students at UCSD. Learning Strategists provide students support through one-on-one appointments and offer study skills workshops.
Hiring Requirements
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Excellent communication skills in order to respond to requests and engage in one-on-one or small group sessions both in writing (via email), and in-person, clearly and concisely
- Ability to work independently and with a diverse team with a focus on prioritization, professionalism, and project completion
- Possess knowledge of and ability to proactively navigate UC San Diego resources and departments to direct students to appropriate resources
- Proficiency to operate Google Suite or willingness to learn required technical systems
- Ability to maintain commitment for one full academic year
- Commit to 10-15 hours per week
Professional Development
Learning Strategists attend an initial training when hired, then 4-5 hours of training and professional development each quarter.Application Information
Applications will be available in the Winter quarter, via the Instructional Assisting Hiring Campaigns or Handshake for our liaison positions. Interviews and hiring will take place in Winter, with training starting in Spring. Then starting as a LS in the Summer or Fall.
- Please note:
- Scholar Athlete liaison will need to go through two interviews, one with AAH and one with the SA program. Preferred qualifications are to have been a past or current athlete.
- Student Veterans Resource Center Learning Strategist liaison will need go through two interviews, one with AAH and one with the SVRC. Preferred qualifications are to have prior or current service in the U.S. Armed forces, a family member of a service member, and/or ROTC participant.
- Transfer Student Success Learning Strategist liaison will need to go through two interviews, one with AAH and one with the Transfer Student Success department. Students must be current or past participant of the services provided by the Transfer Student Success department.
