Supplemental instruction

(Peer-Led Learning Support)

Supplemental Instruction (Peer-Led Learning Support) sessions offer students the opportunity to engage with course material within a community of learners. The SI (Peer-Led Learning Support) program gives students an environment to engage with content, ask questions, and review lecture material with their peers. SI SI (Peer-Led Learning Support supports courses in Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Math, Physics, and Psychology. Learning with a group of peers is a powerful tool!

  • SI (Peer-Led Learning Support) sessions are facilitated by peer educators (known as SI Leaders) who have successfully completed the course at UC San Diego. These leaders are trained in facilitating sessions that encourage students to work together to learn the course material.
  • SI (Peer-Led Learning Support) sessions meet weekly for 80 minutes; no registration is required!
  • Most SI (Peer-Led Learning Support) sessions are offered in a hybrid model, with both in-person and virtual session options.

Program assessment over 5 years demonstrates that participation in Supplemental Instruction SI (Peer-Led Learning Support supports students in obtaining a half-letter grade higher than peers not participating in the program. We encourage students to attend regularly to reap the full benefits!
