Profile

Marie serves as the Associate Director of Academic Success and Learning Services in the Teaching and Learning Commons, where she helps oversee undergraduate academic support programs including Content Tutoring, Supplemental Instruction (SI), undergraduate writing services, and summer success programs. She brings more than ten years of experience in higher education and is passionate about creating learning environments where students feel supported, connected, and empowered to succeed.

Marie earned her B.B.A. in Finance and Media Business and her M.S. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Baylor University. Before joining her current role, she served as a Supplemental Instruction Coordinator in the Teaching and Learning Commons, Program Manager for the Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) Program at the University of Texas at Dallas, and Academic Advisor for Engineering and Computer Science students. She also worked as a graduate assistant supporting Greek Life.

Throughout her career, Marie has focused on developing programs and communities that help students feel a sense of belonging while challenging them to grow. She believes that learning is strengthened when students bring their own experiences, perspectives, and ways of thinking into a shared learning community, where everyone has something to contribute and everyone has something to learn from one another. Her work is grounded in the belief that academic support is about more than helping students succeed in a course, it is about helping them build confidence, develop skills, and see themselves as capable contributors to their communities and the world (and hopefully have fun along the way).

A San Diego native, Marie loves spending her weekends exploring the outdoors with her partner and their three kids.
