Content Tutoring partners with faculty and staff to support students' learning and connect students with academic support. The information below provides answers to common questions about our program, services, and how students can access Content Tutoring.
If you have any questions, feedback about students' experience, or ideas for how we can improve the program, our professional staff are happy to connect with you. You can reach the Content Tutoring Program staff by emailing tlc-contenttutoring@ucsd.edu.
Content Tutors guide students through problem-solving processes by asking guiding questions, providing course-specific strategies, and encouraging students to think critically about their approach. Our goal is to create a collaborative learning environment that strengthens students' understanding and ability to solve problems independently.
Content Tutors do not provide support on graded course materials that students are expected to complete independently, such as quizzes or exams.
Content Tutoring sessions are collaborative and student-centered, with tutors working alongside students to strengthen their understanding and develop effective problem-solving strategies.
Students are expected to actively participate by explaining their thinking, attempting problems, and working through challenges with their Content Tutor. Students are encouraged to come prepared with questions or course materials they would like to review.
Content Tutoring is available in person at the Teaching and Learning Commons in Geisel Library, 1st Floor West, and online via Zoom. Hours vary slightly every quarter. We aim to offer tutoring Monday through Friday.
You can find the current quarter's hours and offerings HERE.
Content Tutoring is appointment-based. Students can make an appointment through TracCloud. Step-by-step instructions for making an appointment can be found HERE.
Students are encouraged to make appointments in advance, but they can also visit the Teaching and Learning Commons Front Desk for same-day tutoring support, if appointments are available. Our Front Desk Assistants can answer student questions and help students navigate or access Content Tutoring services.
Students who have questions or need assistance accessing Content Tutoring services can also email the Content Tutoring Program staff at tlc-contenttutoring@ucsd.edu.
